[Lvlug] Recommendations on a More Suitable Distro

I'm not sure of the "mint" version of the small footprint 'Buntu, but a
new version of Lubuntu is also in the works and that will feature
LXDE. Another thing to consider; the light version of Crunch Bang
linux with LDXE installed as the WM. If you really want a tiny and fast
desktop, you might consider fluxbox or JWM. I think these both have
smaller RAM footprints than LDXE. I'm running Puppy Linux, (an older
more stable version than the betas) which uses JWM. This is perky on my
P-II / 256 meg (very old) laptop. Don't use flux or JWM for noobies,
LDXE will probably be a lot better for folks who are used to a Win32
style enviornment.

Thanks
for the update. I'll make a point of checking out the new LTS
release as soon as it becomes available. I'm in no hurry: After 4
months work, my Fedora 12 install is configured and running well with
all the fixes up-to-date.
The LXDE version of Mint might be an
option for my little 10-year-old Thinkpad 240X. It only has 192MB
of RAM, 500MHz Pentium that runs a 166MHz when on battery. I've
been looking for a "light", full-featured distro to replace my custom
install of Debian Etch XFCE. I've been evaluating Vector-Lite as
a possible replacement as well, but it's a little sparse even for me.
