I've used Debian before.  Still have a custom install (originally Sarge, upgraded to Etch) of it on a 10-year old IBM Thinkpad 240X, 192MB RAM.  Dual boots with W2k Pro.

Haven't looked at Ubuntu since it first came out.  Didn't like it at all.  Disgusting, putrid brown theme.  Who designs these things, anyway?  Perhaps, it's time to have a second look.
