Roger,
Well done! I congratulate you on being included in the Reflector.
I too am a big fan of the Astronomical League. I wish our club was a member. They are great for observing and even astrophotography programs.
I got my Messier certificate from them in the 90's. I'm #1533. I hope one day to get the Herschel 1 and 2 certificates.
Fred

Subject: [LVAS] Just wanted to share!!!!!
All,
I just wanted to share my excitement about finishing my Astronomical League article for the "Reflector" magazine this morning. It was suppose to be around 1400 words, but I am going to end with probably 1800 to 2000. I have talked with John Goss, who will be the league VP next year, and he said "no problem". I have got to let one of the local astronomy professors review for something that I might have not noticed. You always need another set of eyes, especially for a national publication. I also have some math that needs to be checked.
I have been working diligently, and have tried to do a decent job. The "Reflector" is a very nice quarterly magazine. I have always enjoyed reading it.
There is a lot of good astronomy observing information in each issue. I believe it is possible that it could catch the other two astro magazines one day. They have both got smaller and the Reflector has got larger...interesting.
The AL supports many observing programs, too many to list. Please go on line and check it out.
All with a certificate when complete. This is good as it provides observers with an observing objective. The AL basically supports amateur astronomy.
With 1800 words, several sketches. They also wanted a picture of me with my primary scope. This is going to take up quite a bit of the magazine. Please, I am not being boastful, just wanted to share my excitement with my friends and fellow members of the LVAS.
I also wrote a few lines about the LVAS and the Observers Challenge. The AL rep is very impressed with the current work of the group, and said that he might have some ideas in the "near" future.
Best regards, Roger
