All,

Just wanted to share this with the members of the LVAS. I just received this e-mail from Dr. Don Olive.

The famous Komorowski scope will now belong to the Cleveland County Astronomical Society. There are just a few members so I have got to figure out how I can transport this (Monster) scope and make full use of it.

The mirror's in this scope were recently re-coated. Some of the expert mirror makers in the Charlotte Amateurs tested the primary and said that they had never seen a mirror so good.

Roger,

I (The Williams Observatory) is going to donate the 12.5" Criterion (Komorowski scope) to the Cleveland County Astronomical Society tomorrow. Since the club was instrumental in restoring it, we think it should be a "club" scope that can be used by club members.

Would you be willing to stand up and say a few words about what you know of the history of that scope at BobFest tomorrow? It doesn't have to to be anything formal, just give us briefly what you know about it.

Don

Good morning guys,

Interesting article in the Star this morning. This might be a good time to promote our agenda regarding correct lighting.

We did not fare so well the last time. If you recall I was beat up pretty badly by my comments. Fortunately no broken bones or a concussion....Ha!Ha!. I did make a full recovery.

Tommy, I will never forget that "famous" quote. "Never get into a fight with someone that buys ink by the gallon".

It was a learning experience. I learned to always have a written report and never talk with a reporter on the phone while at work doing other things.
