All,

I did an astronomy presentation to the 4th grade class this afternoon at Nate Mack Elementary School just off Warm Springs Road. I was surprised with the overall knowledge of astronomy within this class....for sure an advanced forth grade class.

The majority had observed through a telescope before and there were several that had previously attended a LVAS public night observing session.

The title "The Solar System and Beyond". One student was very close to the length of LY's of the Milky Way galaxy.

Several students wanted to know where their parents to take them to look at quality telescopes. I wrote Scope City on the board with the physical address. Hopeful this will remain on the board for an indefinite period, as well as www.lvastronomy.com

The class also looked at the LVAS website during the session. They are going to attempt to keep up with the "observer's challenge" on a monthly basis....also public nights and other items of astronomy interest.

My granddaughter sure enjoyed helping me by giving out the practice test for the benefit of all students.

My opinion and that of the teacher was that it was a total success and a good time was had by all.
