Well=2C my group for Redstone called off so I went to meet you guys at Vall=
ey of Fire. However=2C when I got to the =3Bvisitor's center=2C they kn=
ew nothing about it. =3BThey unlocked the restrooms for me and left. El=
ena and her husband showed up and we =3Bthought maybe you'd got stuck i=
n that truck wreck on I-15 just before Racetrack road. With nobody else the=
re=2C and since we drove all that way=2C we decided two were enough and set=
up =3Bin the lower parking lot. Then our former =3Bclub president =
(just before you) showed up with his 16" LightBridge. He said something abo=
ut Campground 2 and went looking for it. A while =3Blater he came back =
after a fruitless search so the three of us set up and had a great time.<BR=

 =3B<BR>
I nailed maybe a dozen new objects and got both the February challenge and =
the supplemental. =3BHowever=2C despite the eastern sky looking clear=
=2C it really wasn't. I guess that band =3Bof high =3Bclouds moved =
to the east and made the sky background glow really bad. =3BThe only re=
ason I was able to get the challenge objects was because they were so brigh=
t. I looked for a few other galaxies near them that were in the Mag 12 rang=
e and couldn't see a thing. However=2C there were plenty of sucker holes in=
 =3Bthe garbage up there and I got some killer views around =3BOrio=
n=2C Monoceros=2C Gemini=2C and Cancer. And=2C speaking of Cancer=2C Mars l=
ooked great. I saw the dark markings of what I think was Olympus Mons=2C an=
d watched as =3Bit roated =3Bthroughout the evening. I also could h=
ave sworn I saw two polar caps. I even had =3Bthe =3Bscope cranked =
up to 440X at one point and between blurs=2C caught a few details on the su=
rface.<BR>
 =3B<BR>
It was funny that at times=2C the sky was so pristine and the stars so shar=
p. Yet there were plenty of spots were everything was dull and the backgrou=
nd lit up like =3BI was in town.<BR>
 =3B<BR>
Since my =3Bbackup plan was done in a panic at the last minute=2C I nev=
er found the correct directions to where you guys set up. On the web site=
=2C the link at the side just goes to a reminder page. Both Elena and =
=3BI =3Bcould have sworn you all said the visitor's center=2C so that i=
s where we went. Good thing I didn't go looking for Campground #2 =3Bwh=
ere the sign points to =3B"Campgroud" which would have taken us up the =
wrong =3Broad. So=2C in my rush=2C I ended up in the wrong place. Still=
=2C I had a great night.<BR>

Elena left a bit before me and our former president did=2C but we gave up a=
bout 9:45 as my paper Megastar charts were getting pretty soggy and I was g=
etting dew on everything.<BR>
