Roger,
I think Fred was more generous in his evaluation of the weekend weather
than I would have been. I think Fred was there Thursday night, which
was pretty good after the clouds moved out. I got there Friday. There
was 3 hours of good viewing between 9 and midnight. After that the
clouds moved in and it was hit and miss the rest of the night. Saturday
was somewhat worse. There was a couple of hours after midnight. On
Friday, I had several visitors that occupied my time, so by the time
they left, the clouds were moving in and I wasn't able to do any
individual observing except for the Helix Nebula. I hope I got enough
to do an observation report.
Like Fred said, though; when the sky was clear, it was dark and the
Milky Way stretched from horizon to horizon.
Talk to you guys later.

>> Just had the greatest three days at Cathedral Gorge. Looking at those dark skies, I was like a kid in a candy store! Unfortunately, the first night, Thursday, I tired out at 11 or so. Had a long day. Friday, got to stay out a bit later and logged a bunch of stuff. Saturday evening, almost gave up the ghost but my wife and I were still a bit wired, so we kept watching the cloud cover. About midnight, the clouds started to dissipate and for about two hours, I was peeking at stuff through holes in the sky. By the time I gave up at 02:00, it was pretty clear but I knew I had a long drive so I gave up.
