Fred and all,

I am really glad to hear such a positive report. The weather here in North Carolina has been terrible. It has been the same for most states up and down the east coast, and it has also been cloudy and wet as far west as the plains.

This entire week has been cloudy, and humid. It has rained all weekend and the long range forecast through next week does not look any better.

It may be possible that an 11th hour change of weather will occur by next weekend. I really want to spend some time on the Helix and attempt Barnard's Galaxy for the first time at a dark site.

It has been a very unusual month. We are normally very dry during this time of the year.

> Just had the greatest three days at Cathedral Gorge. Looking at those dark skies, I was like a kid in a candy store! Unfortunately, the first night, Thursday, I tired out at 11 or so. Had a long day. Friday, got to stay out a bit later and logged a bunch of stuff. Saturday evening, almost gave up the ghost but my wife and I were still a bit wired, so we kept watching the cloud cover. About midnight, the clouds started to dissipate and for about two hours, I was peeking at stuff through holes in the sky. By the time I gave up at 02:00, it was pretty clear but I knew I had a long drive so I gave up.
