[LVAS] Astro-Goggles

Rob,

My take is that any light brighter than the object you are looking at is going to affect your vision for a little while. A red light does less damage than say a white one, but it is still far more intense than a faint fuzzy. I just live with it as I go from one object to the next and have to consult my star charts between each one. Though my red flashlight has weak batteries in it at the moment, I know I'm losing just a bit of dark adaptivity between each object. Then again, with a 16" aperture, it isn't as big a problem for me as others with smaller scopes.
