Marc,

It looks like you've fallen victim to a very old hoax that's been 
floating around for years.  Even when Mars was at conjunction back in 
2003, it was never as large as the full moon and neither can it be.  At 
its closest distance, Mars is still a difficult target for getting a lot 
of detail.  Be careful about quoting sources of information that aren't 
very reliable.  We don't want to provide false information, especially 
to the public in the name of LVAS.
