Fred and all,
 
I am going to present more comparative views with different telescopes in the future. 
 
Re: Omega Centauri; The 4-inch did resolve any of the stars. The surface was very smooth, with "absolutely" no detail at all.   
 
The 12-inch resolved many stars, and the surface was very mottled. Fred, I feel sure that a 16-inch would have presented a view similar to a photograph. 
 
I am going to go back and look at Rob's image through his mallincam from Death Valley.

I cheated and looked on the card, but still, the detail is distinctly different between the two. I haven't yet seen it and it's looking more and more like I'll have to wait until next year to try for it.

A sketch of Omega Centauri, 20 minutes N of Boiling Springs, North Carolina at an approximate, +35° 15' latitude.
 
One sketch with a 4-inch refractor and another using a 12-inch reflector, 9mm Nagler at 170x. 
 
Can you identify which sketch is which?
