[Lvas] M13 propeller

Jim, 

Wow...excellent. Possibly shows the propeller better than any image that I have seen to date. 

I have a sketch that I will submit at a later date. I am hopeful that I will be able to draw it again using my 10-inch from my backyard. 

Is this possible? I don't know.

Sorry for being out of touch. I've been in Bryce Canyon National Park as a volunteer for the astronomy outreach program for the last two weeks with little access to communication. It's been unseasonably warm and cloudy but we've had a few decent nights. The skies are magnificent. They say they are mag 7.4 and it is striking. Anyway here is an image of M13 shot up here between the clouds. Funny now I can't help but see the propeller. I'll be here for another week and am hoping to gather a few more photons when the skies clear.

All,

I continue to be amazed at all of the sightings of the dark lanes "AKA" the propeller, radiating from the center of M-13. 

Reports from David, Rob, Fred, and Ryan, have been giving me confidence that I too may be able to observe the dark rifts. 

We have had a cold front to move in after a week or more of rain. It is my intentions to take my 10-inch out into my backyard tonight and attempt. I am also hopeful that I can complete my work of the Leo group tonight. 

Even though I have observed M-65/66 and N-3628 many times with as many sketches. I do not feel that I have given this group the necessary time to see all of the many "faint" details as described by Skiff.  

My son from Las Vegas is visiting, and I am hopeful that he will be able to observe with me. With younger eyes, he may be able to assist with my sketch of the "illusive" propeller, and also verfify that I can in fact see it also.

Sorry to give the wrong impression.  Camp Lee Canyon is at 8200 feet, a cold front had just blown through, the skies were quite dark, and M13 was some 40 or 50 degrees above the horizon.  The trees were in the way because this was a mountain camp, and you know how tall those trees can be.  So conditions were actually pretty good.

You should not have any trouble with a 10 inch scope.  Just get a good, dark sky behind M13.

This gives me hope that I might be able to see with my 10-inch...however I am going to try to have at least a 12-inch handy.
