John,
Re: Skiff/Luginbuhl, Observing handbook...
I am very happy to hear this. I promise, you will not be disappointed. The following day after an observing session I compare notes. If I can see a small amount of what Skiff and Luginbuhl noted...well I am very happy. Most often I try to see all of the fine details listed during my next session.
I really feel good if I can see the same details with my 10-inch that they note using a 12-inch, and it happens rather frequently.
It is not likely that that there will ever be a book like this printed again.
John, you are fortunate indeed to have found a copy. I will be most anxious for your report within six months. You will have become a better observer, your visual acuity will increase dramatically, and you will add 2 or more inches to your telescope, from a visual prospective.
Good luck with your new book....Roger
I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God. Abraham Lincoln
