I think M-27 is an excellent choice. There is a bit more to see than just a dumbbell.

Rob, your image, as I expected, presented the central star and shape nicely. I really like the translucent effect, showing the structure of this fabulous nebula. The fine details are so very often overlooked in this object.
 
A model to be used for the visual observer.
