I also enjoy an old copy of 'The Finest Deep Sky Objects' by Mullaney and McCall, Roger, and your planned update would be a nice resource.

Is any local observing (Redstone?) being considered for 7/25 if the clouds part?

I also saw the science camp outreach at Camp Lee Canyon on calendar for 7/27, which will have a nice waxing crescent moon (Apollo 11 landing area in view too) to start the evening off.

Thanks to Rob, John, and others for coordinating LVAS's support at Great Basin's first NPCA star party. That was a very enjoyable night, and the family is looking forward to the NPCA Great Basin sequel event next year.

The kids have been using two freeware downloads lately to learn more, both deserve mention.

One is "Where is M13" which can be zoomed to show all the Messier object locations in relation our galaxy and gives some "outreach facts" for each one. It makes a good study companion to a sky map or any reference that has photos or sketches (which 'Where is M13' does not).

The "Virtual Moon Atlas" is a very powerful, detailed and information-packed moon atlas and ephemeris.

You can find these both with an internet search.

Just a thought from some longer posts earlier in the week: selectively quoting or trimming before replies will make multiple replies easier to read in e-mail digest form, without as much repetition.

Best, Jay
