Mount Palomar will get some worldwide exposure on February 22nd.

The Tour of California bicycle race starts today and will be covered daily on Versus. On stage 8 which is the final stage of the race the cyclist will climb over 4,000 feet up the winding 21 switchbacks to the total elevation of 5,123 feet of Mount Palomar. The climb is 12 miles.

With the return of Lance Armstrong there will be much publicity of this most difficult 100 mile ending stage as the race may be won or loss on this mountain.

I will refrain from sending less than 100% astronomy subjects in the future on the forum. I felt this to be worthy information for all astronomers even if you are not interested in Pro-cycling. I promise...

Amateur bike racer and amateur astronomer....best regards Roger Ivester
