All,

This is one of my better field sketches of PN IC 1747 from November 17th 1998. My first observation of this faint planetary was many years earlier and at that time could not see the central star.

NGC 2000 indicates a visual magnitude of 14. I am not sure of the magnitude of the central star.

h information:

1. 10-inch reflector
2. Magnification: 200x (16mm Meade Plossl + 2.8 UO Klee barlow)

Visual description: Faint, very small, mostly round with irregular edges, a nebula filter improves contrast. The faint central star is pretty easy to see on this night.

After observing with high magnification can reduce and see at 57x. At this low power it appears as a very faint star with nebulosity. I am not sure if I could recognize at this lower power...if I did not know that it was there. The planetary is fairly well concentrated and is fairly bright at both 200x and 250x. It is surprising but many faint details can be seen at the higher power.

Roger
