[Lvas] Observing 4/25/09

Howdy Gang,

	Well this was my first time out at Red Stone and it's not a bad site,  
except for the light dome of Las Vegas.  I haven't had the chance to  
do any kind of astronomy for some time, so it was nice to get and look  
up again, instead of always looking down, looking for meteorites.  The  
skies were pretty good to the East, North, and South.  The weather  
turned out to be Ok.  A slight breeze, with it gradually getting  
cooler in the evening.  When I left, around 2 am, the temp read 56  
degrees.  I got a chance to look through Fred's scope at the nine  
galaxies and Ryan's not to mention Dan's.  All had good viewing of the  
night sky.  I got a chance to become re-aquatinted with my scope and  
had a good time too.  The galaxies I looked at were cool, but am  
thinking of upgrading to a 12" dob.  The 8" LX-200 is a great scope  
for travel and such, but to squeeze out the extra light on some of the  
objects, well bigger is sometimes better.  Here are a few shots with  
the Cannon Rebel EOS, max time was 45 sec.  Just playing around with  
the shots, and accidentally deleted M-51, which was looking quite good  
if I don't say so myself, but alas, I deleted it.  Jason
