[Lvas] Tonight, Friday

I'm pretty mad I missed out on last night. Still considering going out tonight. Is anyone up for it? It's looking a lot lousier than last night, but look how it turned out then. Still, with the price of gas and all, I just don't know if it's worth the risk.
Clear sky clock for Indian Springs shows it's going to be clear and calm. But the aviation weather site shows a band of clouds coming up from the south. It looks like they may disperse pretty soon, but not sure.

Fred,
Sorry I missed your last message. I left early to go up to the Sawmill Trail head and waited for anyone to show up until 8:00 p.m. I decided to go back a bit to Blue Tree and had one of the best observing nights up there for months! No wind at all and the sky was very clear with 70 degree temperature. I had a blast...even with a few Pagan worshippers down the hill from me. It made the night so different with bell ringing and chants...yes you should of been there to experience it. Observed until 2:00 in the morning. I regret not bringing any imaging equipment with me. Hope to observe with you soon.
Robert

Robert, Just looked at the satellite (and outside) and a big band of clouds is moving in from the south. That wasn't supposed to happen! The band travels all the way to the Salton Sea so it isn't looking good. Maybe they will dissipate after dark, but even if it does, the transparency won't be that good for deep sky. What do you think? Fred

Fred,
I will be more than happy to meet you up there tonight if you are going. I usually observe at Blue Tree primitive campground which is just before Sawmill....more privacy and no asphalt.
Let me know!!

All, Is anyone interested in going out tonight? It is looking like Saturday is going to be bad, so far. Just in case, I'd hate to miss out if tonight turns out to be the killer night. I'm thinking Sawmill Trailhead. Fred
